Campus Killings

Episode 86 Halloween Special: Ryan Buell & the Paranormal Research Society
In 2001, Penn State journalism major Ryan Buell started a paranormal club on campus. While he only had 3 people show up to the first meeting, after assisting in a missing person's case and performing an exorcism, his "Paranormal Research Society" garnered the attention of several major TV stations, and by 2007, he became the host of A&E's docu-drama "Paranormal State." Over the next five years, millions of viewers watched Ryan and his team investigate paranormal phenomena and perform exorcisms on national television. But Ryan's own demons caught up with him after the show wrapped, and he would spend the next decade fighting to find himself again.

Episode 85 Trent DiGiuro
University of Kentucky's star football player, Trent DiGiuro, was celebrating his 21st birthday on July 17, 1994. As he and friends sat on their porch, sharing a beer, Trent was suddenly shot in the head and died instantly. No one saw where the shot came from, and there was no evidence at the scene. Trent had no enemies that anyone knew about, and had never been involved in gang or criminal activity. Without leads, his case went cold quickly, but a tip almost a decade later would reveal Trent did have an enemy…one with a very large grudge and a premeditated plan for revenge.

Episode 84 Kendrick Johnson Minisode
In the winter of 2013, 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson was found dead inside a rolled up gym mat at Lowndes High School, in Valdosta, Georgia. The police investigation concluded he'd climbed into the middle of it and accidentally suffocated to death when he couldn't get back out. But his parents believed fellow classmates had murdered him and used their father's government position to cover it up. But a federal inquest and a local reopened investigation both concluded Kendrick's death was accidental. The Johnsons don't believe it, and through sit-ins, protests, interviews, and documentaries, the Johnson family has spent almost twenty years trying to get justice for their son.

Episode 83 Elizabeth 'Lizzi' Marriott
In 2012, University of New Hampshire sophomore, Lizzi Marriott, went missing after visiting a new friend she'd met at work for a video game hangout. The massive subsequent search to bring Lizzi home came up empty. But evidence and a surprise confession uncovered an insidious relationship, a murder, and a coverup. But without Lizzi's body to autopsy, it was the prosecution's word against the defense, and Lizzi's parents feared they would be denied justice for their daughter's death.
