When Did Star Trek Fans Lose Their Imaginations?

    19/07/2026 | 1h 17min
Positively Trek 342: When Did Star Trek Fans Lose Their Imaginations?
When Creativity Gives Way to Complaining

The change in the Klingons’ appearance. Do Romulans have head ridges or not? Is Klingon blood red or pink? Just how powerful are Betazoid senses? And why exactly does a French Starship captain sound British?

Over its 60 years of history, Star Trek has given us many interesting and perplexing questions. As fans, we have come up with theories, hypotheses, and outright speculation to make it all fit. But in recent years, it sometimes feels like that fun theorizing has given way to complaining and cries of “the writers don’t know what they’re doing!” Why is that?

In this episode of Positively Trek, hosts Dan and Barry discuss this issue and ask themselves “when did Star Trek fans lose their imaginations?”
