This week on Podstruck: A Rom-Com Rewind, we close out our collection of break up romantic comedies with the Jason Segel 2008 romp Forgetting Sarah Marshall. This Judd Apatow produced comedy doesn't shy away from meandering for the sake of hilarious bits, even though his initial writing advice was not focused on the comedy. Chelsea and Elena also dive into the great divergence of Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell who honor the old brunette vs. blonde trope, the connection that this movie has to Broadcast News, how Mila Kunis' on-set jet ski accident cost her a role in another film, and the douches we've both dated (inspired by Russell Brand's d-bag rock star Aldous Snow). It's a movie stacked with hilarious side characters proving there's a reason we can never forget Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

This delightfully messy rom-com stars Jenny Slate and Charlie Day as two freshly dumped strangers who team up to win back their exes and accidentally catch feelings along the way. Elena and Chelsea discuss why Jenny Slate is an underrated rom-com QUEEN, why Ben Mackenzie's surprise cameo is oh so delightful, and we also debate whether this movie crams in one subplot too many (looking at you, theater kid with the gay dads). We also celebrate the surprisingly great Atlanta setting, and spend an entirely reasonable amount of time discussing why ripped Manny Jacinto with long hair really works for us. Come for the breakup scheming, stay for the stellar cast, and a rom-com that reminds us that this genre is not dead!
