We’re talking signs that your Xander might be in distress, how Angelus would fare in Project Hail Mary, how we need much more of Joyce making small talk with Spike, who is paying for the torture team T-shirts, and Angel being just like a pet at the vet. We crumble at the sight of Willow’s Resolve Face, wonder where Angelus’ chainsaw went, appreciate Drusilla’s love for polyamory crimes, and think that every episode would be better if it ended with an “Oh, Giles!” freeze frame. This week we are trying to prevent stone demons from ending the world while we discuss “Becoming I”! We’re talking how cool it would be to be a local expert on obscure artifacts, Catholic confession pop-up booths being very popular in 19th-century London, that Drusilla has missed her calling as an ASMR Youtuber, Angel carrying around handfuls of rats everywhere, and that this Acathla guy just looks like a stupid ogre from a children’s fairy tale. We name Angel’s memoir ‘A Century of Sadness’, think that Buffy might have been able to save Kendra if she hadn’t been slow-mo running, get uncomfortable at Giles fondling this sword, and propose Angel going on Queer Eye. It might fix him? Quote of the week: We’re going to make history… end.

This week we are going undercover on the swim team while we discuss “Go Fish”! We’re talking Buffy being the muscle that keeps teacher Willow from being bullied, that every time you feel the urge to be mean just sell a vegetable, the inherent conflict in the Willow (takes DARE very seriously) and Oz (wears a DARE shirt ironically) relationship, whether or not Giles hates Xander, and the hidden depths of Wentworth Miller. We wonder how Giles got away with locking the swim team in the library cage, cheer on evil Willow interrogating Jonathan, recall iconic Teen Wolf moments, and start all our conversations with “After the fall of the Soviet Union…” Quote of the week: What is that foulness?

This week we are being possessed by ghost lovers while we discuss “I Only Have Eyes for You”! We’re talking the blessed return of Snyder, John Hawkes(!!), Buffy and Angel having problems nobody has ever had before, the impending breakup of Spike and Dru, and creepy writer Scott and his obsession with getting a locker monster arm into the show. We accept that Snyder is indeed a truth-seeker, do the math on what percentage of the vampire trio has to be having a bad one at any given time for their dynamic to work, what Cordelia’s grandpa’s breath smells like, and Willow continuing to be an unpaid intern. Everybody woke up this morning and chose projection.

This week we are seeing death while overcoming a severe flu while we discuss “Killed by Death”! We’re talking burrito-ing Angel, whether Buffy’s uncomfortable pillow is what made her sick, that Giles/Joyce might be coming back from the dead, that the hospital really needs accessible visiting hours for vampires, and whether that invisible body is going to be rotting down there forever now. We make fun of Buffy’s disposable one-episode trauma backstory, really get into the eyeball stalks, enjoy some extraneous ADR lines, and realize that Cordelia isn’t mean, she’s just practicing radical honesty. Creepy Willie Garson, get out of here and back to White Collar from whence you came.
