Billie Holiday - Them There Eyes

    23/07/2026 | 1h 16min
We're heading way, way back this week. Further back than we've gone on the pod so far. Before Kev was born. Even before Randy was born!!! We're talking about one of the greatest voices ever captured on record singing a song that neither The Cardinal nor Captain Spreadsheet have ever heard before. So it should be a wheez. We ended up listening to the song twice but in two different versions. You'll have to tune in to find out why!

If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Them There Eyes", or possibly, "These Here Ears"

The twenty sixth installment in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers asong submitted by Lyn DeAnda. The song is "Them There Eyes", originally published in 1930 and recorded, for the purposes of this podcast, by the legendary Billie Holiday!

The song at the end is titled "That and Then Some" and comes from the debut Randy Woods Band album. Go listen to it here. Now. https://youtu.be/rner4AbWHFk

NOTE: Skip forward to 23:19 (TWENTY THREE NINETEEN!) if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is one Kev wrote for his best mate growing up, Birchy, who died from cancer in 2017. You can watch the video here : https://youtu.be/AGsINNg8l_c

Time to Shine (Queen + Paul Rodgers)

    16/07/2026 | 1h
B B B B B B Side! Well, not technically. Just not part of the main catalogue. It's still Queen. Kinda. Well, not really, but two of the band are in this supergroup... Look, I added The Cosmos Rocks to the B Side wheel because Corey has been getting on my case about us not talking about these songs. Fine. Happy now?!?!?!

The first song we spin up from The Cosmos Rocks is the Paul Rodgers-penned Time to Shine. It was played live once. Not an auspicious sign perhaps? Randy is away working, so we had this one in reserve just in case we were caught short. Here it is!

If Kev were to title this episode, I’d probably call it “All Right Now”, or possibly, “Not bad, how are you?”

NOTE: Skip forward to 22:40 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the very, very, very groovy "Disenfranchised You" by Randy Woods Band. It was written in a gutter in prague in a heavy rainfal as a Czech thimble salesman tried to steal Randy's bicycle at 3am on a Wednesday. It's incredible where the inspiration for songs comes from, isn't it! You can check it out here : https://youtu.be/Ul7uhP6MaWo

A Night at the Opera (with Michael J Smith and Ian Winick)

    09/07/2026 | 1h 36min
Michael and Ian are back! Yay! We brought back our pals from Eat the Pudding to talk about A Night at the Opera. We'll go through our rankings and countdown the eleven songs (not including the instrumental) from Queen's biggest hit according to you, the listeners. We discuss how badly you got your rankings wrong, there's some discussion of Roger's new album, and as always, things go off the rails a few times. But we did it. And we enjoyed it. Perhaps you will too.

    Now I'm Here

    02/07/2026 | 1h 28min
Randy is caught off guard by a post boner... we have to give a trigger warning to any spastic giraffes... Then there's a fair bit of chat about George Michael, Kiss, dead flies, Anderson .Paak, Kerry Ellis, and Otto Virtanen. Oh my...

In the midst of all this, we manage to find our way to the last song on Side A of Queen's magnificent 1974 album, Sheer Heart Attack as we discuss a Brian May rocker titled "Now I'm Here". You may have heard of it!

If Kev were to title this episode, I’d probably call it “Now I’m Here”, or possibly, “Now I’m There”.

NOTE: Skip forward to 30:16 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the seismically heavy "Subletter" from the Randy Woods Band debut album. It's another one of Kev's favourite Randy tunes. You can and should go find it out here: https://youtu.be/GQhWu2bBL0U

    Calling All Girls

    25/06/2026 | 1h 6min
"If you like it, listen to it. If you don't, fuck off!"

Thus spake the Cardinal. And the congregation lifted up their hands to him and said "Oh wise and beneficent leader, what maketh you of the one who calls himself Rodgers?"

And the Cardinal laid down his golden mace and leveled a steely gaze upon the multitude saying "He who hath fronted the Free, shall ne'er satisfy the Queendom. Speak to me not of this false prophet!"

Then came a wailing from the faithful, beseeching "But surely your eminence, St Paul of Lambert hath been chosen be the divine!"

The Cardinal paused mightily before decreeing "Yeh, he's not bad. Probably better of with him than another old rocker I reckon."

And the crowd dispersed, happy in such benediction. And lo, they whispered in hushed tones upon the wisdom of The Cardinal.

If Randy were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it “What song did we listen to again?” or possibly “Geez, I don’t remember a note!”

NOTE: Skip forward to 23:57 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the brilliant "Darling of the CBC" from Absofunkinlutely's black album. You can and should go find it out here: https://youtu.be/xP2OhLngxQE

Sobre Seaside Pod Review (A Queen Podcast)
Kev and Randy take to the mics once a week to talk about a song from the catalogue of the enigmatic, brilliant, and sometimes flawed rock legends Queen. Each week a song will be chosen at random so that the boys won't know what track they'll be reviewing. Kev comes into the podcast as a Queen afficionado, while Randy is a more casual fan, but has a huge wealth of knowledge about recording, performing, and music in general. At the end of each episode, both will either upvote or downvote the song and we'll take to social media to see what the listeners think! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
