Author Jason Pargin stops by to discuss the latest installment of his John Dies At The End series titled There Are No Giant Crabs In This Novel: A Novel of Giant Crabs as well as the undersung Stephen King novella The Breathing Method, published in Different Seasons alongside Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, The Body (Stand By Me), and Apt Pupil.
We talk about the realities of the publishing world, the largely negative impact of A.I., and then dive into this particularly interesting world that King cooked up where a bunch of stuffy elites visit a mystical New York gentlemen's club and tell spooky stories. Would King ever revisit this space? We have some insight on that, too!
There Are No Giant Crabs In This Novel is available right now in e-book and audiobook form and the hardback is on track to hit shelves in early December.

Romero's genre-setting 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead, the impact that it had on Stephen King, and their own personal favorite King stories.
Judith O'Dea and Russ Streiner are delightful and filled with so many stories about Romero, making a genre classic, and all the fallout, both good and ill, that came from that experience.

We talk about what it was like for a die hard King fan to work with his favorite author, how King has repeatedly reintroduced himself to new generations going back to the early '80s, and all the King connections in this new episode.

This past weekend The Kingcast held a live show at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX. The guest was genre filmmaker Mike P. Nelson who was at the fest for his new flick, a giant killer snake tale called Beware Boiuna starring Jessica Rothe, Kiana Madeira, and Kingcast alum Logan Marshall-Green. It must also be noted that Mike was just announced as the director taking over the SAW franchise.
He's a good dude and joined Vespe on stage at the raucous Highball to talk a bit about Joe Hill and Stephen King's collaboration: Throttle, a story he's actively trying to get the rights to. We also pit his huge constrictor antagonist from Beware Boiuna against some large Stephen King creations and talk through who might come out on top.
It's a fun chat with a noisy crowd, the exact kind of thing you expect from a live show.
