正文： As Chinese households prepare for winter meals and festive gatherings, fresh produce remains abundant and affordable in supermarkets and neighborhood vegetable stalls across the country. This scene stands in stark contrast to many parts of the world, where inflation, supply disruptions, and climate-related shocks continue to fuel anxiety over daily necessities. In China,however, such worries have largely receded from public life—particularly during peak consumption seasons. Behind this calmness lies not coincidence,but long-term institutional arrangements. China’s “vegetable basket” project, launched in 1988, has evolved into a comprehensive system covering production, circulation,reserves, and emergency coordination, becoming a key pillar of food security and an important guarantee of people’s livelihoods.
