Earlier, the Iranian delegation flew out of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, having -- they said -- put their position to intermediaries. In other news, a social media influencer who was hit by a car in central London last weekend has died in hospital; and warnings have been issued about the risk of wildfires in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The European anti-fraud office formally opens an investigation into Lord Mandelson's time as trade commissioner. Lord Mandelson has not commented on the allegations but the BBC understands he has denied acting in any criminal manner and was not motivated by financial gain.
