On Newsround with Dave Davis, Dave examines the worrying numbers behind Liverpool's recent Premier League form and explains why Saturday's frustrating draw with Fulham showed there are still major problems for the new head coach to solve. Liverpool have won only 18 of their last 46 Premier League matches, while their attacking output at Anfield and lack of intensity against Fulham underline the scale of the rebuild.

The midfield remains one of the biggest concerns. Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai struggled badly as a double pivot, while questions continue over whether Liverpool's midfielders are naturally suited to the new structure built around Florian Wirtz. Dave also argues that Wirtz cannot be expected to provide the intensity of Liverpool's entire forward line by himself.

There is better news at centre-back, where Jeremy Jacquet continues to impress. The 21-year-old has reportedly entered France's provisional international thinking after an outstanding start at Liverpool, while Dave also discusses Virgil van Dijk's international future and why extending the captain's Liverpool contract remains a priority.

Plus, Liverpool are linked with Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde ahead of January. His progressive numbers are hugely impressive, but a worrying injury record provides an enormous red flag – and Dave questions how credible the transfer story really is.

It's Carabao Cup matchday as Liverpool welcome Spurs to Anfield – and Dave Davis wants to see major rotation from Andoni Iraola.

With Bournemouth awaiting in the Premier League, Dave argues that this is the perfect opportunity to rest Liverpool's biggest names and hand meaningful minutes to the youngsters and fringe players.
