In his work "The Fate of Empires and Search for Survival," Glubb lays out several key factors like mass immigration that regularly contribute to imperial decline. Modern people tend to see knowledge as something humanity collectively achieves. Once a scientific advancement of moral truth is uncovered it is now part of the collective achievement of our species and remains known in perpetuity. In truth, these advancements are not eternal and can be easily lost if a civilization does not practice them day to day. As America celebrates its 250th anniversary we must realize that remembering our traditions and values is not enough; to keep them alive we must embody them in everything we do.
