  • Cultivating Strong Sibling Bonds (Marriage Unhindered)
In this Marriage Unhindered episode, guest host Monica Hinderer, a licensed clinical professional counselor, is joined by her brother, Fr. Joe Hinderer, to talk about one of the most formative – and sometimes overlooked – relationships in our lives: the bond between siblings. With warmth, laughter, and genuine affection, the two reflect on what it was like growing up in a family of nine children and how their parents instilled in them the value of unity, forgiveness, and faith-filled friendship. Monica and Fr. Joe share personal stories from childhood, like the family rule that you couldn’t play with friends until you made peace with your siblings – a lesson that taught them that reconciliation and love come before comfort or convenience. Drawing from both psychology and pastoral ministry, they show how these small but intentional practices created deep trust and resilience that still hold their family together today. Backed by new 2025 studies, Monica mentions how strong sibling relationships in adolescence lead to greater emotional well-being and lower rates of anxiety and depression later in life. Fr. Joe, reflecting on his ministry in hospitals and confessionals, shares moving moments of people longing to repair broken family ties before it’s too late. Together, they remind you that the family is “the first school of love,” as St. John Paul II taught – and that our siblings often become the ones who help us practice mercy, patience, and humility in real, concrete ways. This heart-to-heart conversation is equal parts touching and practical. It offers encouragement for parents hoping to raise close-knit children and for adults who desire to heal old wounds or reconnect with family. The message is clear: no matter how much time has passed, it’s never too late to reach out and begin again. • MLB World Series Preview and a Meeting with Pope Leo (Morning Air)
In this Morning Air episode, John Morales sits down with five-time MLB All-Star Mike Sweeney to talk faith, family, and the 2025 World Series matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. From his take on the game to his deep love for Christ and Our Lady, Mike Sweeney reminds you that humility and faith are what truly make a champion. Sweeney – Kansas City Royals Hall of Famer and longtime Catholic leader – shares his insights on this year’s Fall Classic, complementing Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and players like Shohei Ohtani and Clayton Kershaw for their class, humility, and visible faith. Despite joking that he “grew up hating the Dodgers,” he admits their combination of power hitting and strong pitching makes them “the best team on the planet.” But the conversation soon turns to something deeper: Mike Sweeney’s encounter with the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV. During a recent trip to Rome, Sweeney presented the Pope – himself a lifelong White Sox fan – with a custom Trinity baseball bat featuring the papal motto “In illo uno unum” (“In He who is One, we are one”) and the flags of the Vatican, the U.S., and Peru. When Pope Leo held up the bat in St. Peter’s Square, the crowd erupted. “That was the moment,” a priest told Sweeney, “when the world saw him as the first American Pope.” Mike Sweeney reflects on the awe of approaching the Chair of St. Peter, saying he was more nervous than facing a 104-mph fastball: “When you walk up to the man in the chair of St. Peter, it’s humbling. You realize you’re standing before the vicar of Christ.” As the discussion shifts toward prayer, Sweeney passionately describes how the Rosary anchors his family’s faith: “Praying the Rosary is worshiping Jesus while holding hands with His mother. It’s the glue that holds our family together.” He describes walking the Holy Mountain of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Health in Lake Como, praying through all 15 mysteries, and how that pilgrimage led to his meeting with Pope Leo. Inspired by the Holy Father, Mike Sweeney committed to praying the Rosary daily for the rest of his life. • Why Do We Call the Pope Our Holy Father? (The Patrick Madrid Show)
Image via Fabrizio Maffei / Shutterstock. On The Patrick Madrid Show, Patrick takes a call from Jerry in Nashville, who asks a common but important question: “Why do Catholics call the Pope ‘Holy Father’ if he’s just a man like everyone else?” Patrick explains that the title “Father” comes from Scripture itself – in 1 Corinthians 4:15, St. Paul calls himself a spiritual father through the Gospel. The term “holy,” Patrick notes, doesn’t mean sinless, but “set apart for God,” as seen in 2 Peter 1:21, which refers to “holy men of God.” The Pope, as successor of St. Peter, is set apart for the spiritual care of Christ’s Church, which is why Catholics traditionally call him “Holy Father.” Patrick also shares how this title developed over centuries in the early Church, emphasizing reverence for the papal office rather than personal perfection. We pray for Pope Leo to continue to guide our Church with joy, courage, and faith. The best way to listen to the Best of the Week is on our #1 Free Catholic App. It’s free and always will be! • "I'm Praying for Our Son to Come Back with His Family." (Family Rosary Across America)
On this episode of The Family Rosary Across America on Relevant Radio, Fr. Rocky and Maggie unite listeners from across the country in a powerful time of prayer. Callers from Wisconsin to New Jersey share deeply personal intentions – requests for healing, restored family relationships, and the return of loved ones to faith and home. Paul from West Allis, Wisconsin is asking prayers for improved eyesight, while Roseanne from Bordentown, New Jersey, calls with a list of tender intentions close to a mother’s heart. She asks for healing for her daughter Heather Ann, who is struggling with instability in her neck, for relief from her own glaucoma and rheumatoid arthritis, and for a successful hernia surgery for her brother-in-law, Jim. But perhaps her most emotional request is for her son to come back into her life and to bring his family with him. It’s been eight long years since Roseanne has seen her grandchildren, and her voice carries the ache of a mother who longs for reconciliation and renewed love within her family. Father and Maggie assure her, and every listener, that these intentions are being lifted up with faith and trust in the Lord’s mercy. Families across America are invited to join in, uniting their hearts in prayer for healing, forgiveness, and hope.
