- Seacrist Elementary had always suffered from an unusually high number of absences. In the autumn of 1977, people finally began to understand why. A dead man is found sitting inside a locked classroom. A missing administrator’s name appears on a crude grave marker. Fire alarms ring without cause, children report impossible encounters, and a camera captures something that could not have happened. Yet every incident is explained away, forgotten, or buried beneath the next. Eighteen years after the school closed, former student Cy Wistrom awakens from a mysterious coma with his childhood memories suddenly restored. Now he is ready to reveal what happened during Seacrist’s final months.

Seeking solitude in an aging Salem house, a novelist discovers a secret chamber buried behind the walls of his cellar, a forgotten room belonging to a witch whose name has haunted the city for centuries. Within its strange geometric designs, he finds something he desperately needs: silence, concentration, and inspiration unlike anything he has experienced before. As forgotten dreams, whispered legends, and increasingly ominous warnings begin to converge, the sanctuary beneath his home starts to feel less like a workspace and more like a doorway. And somewhere beyond that doorway, something ancient may have been waiting a very long time for someone to open it.

At first, Poroth Farm seems ideal. His landlords, Sarr and Deborah Poroth, are reserved but welcoming, the countryside is peaceful, and Jeremy finally has all the solitude he could want. Then the natural rhythms of the farm begin to falter. Something strange moves through the woods. Animals behave in ways Jeremy cannot explain. Familiar creatures become suddenly unfamiliar. And as the summer wears on, Jeremy's comfortable skepticism is tested by a mounting series of incidents that seem increasingly difficult to dismiss as coincidence, superstition, or imagination. Surrounded by the very horror stories he came there to study, Jeremy begins to confront a far more disturbing possibility: perhaps the darkest ideas preserved in old books were never entirely fictional.
T.E.D. Klein's “The Events at Poroth Farm” is a masterful slow burn of isolation, paranoia, cosmic dread, and creeping transformation, now presented as a standalone audio horror release and performed by Erik Peabody.

The strange symbols covering its pages seem meaningless to Bill—but to his younger brother Aaron, they are beginning to make perfect sense. Soon, Aaron is experimenting... and succeeding. As impossible tricks become increasingly dangerous demonstrations, Bill watches the brother he knows disappear behind an obsession with knowledge that was never meant for him.

In our latest episode, we journey from the blood-soaked wilderness to the quiet corridors of grief, pairing Jack Finn’s savage tale of supernatural retribution, “The Hunters,” with Ambrose Ibsen’s melancholy ghost story of love and regret, “The Smell of Old Paper.” One story asks what happens when nature finally gets its revenge. The other asks whether the things we leave unsaid ever truly leave us.
