A Dramione retelling of A Cinderella Story (2004)
Less than a year after the war, Lucius Malfoy is Minister for Magic and celebrated as the man who defeated Voldemort. Hermione Granger, who actually did the job alongside Harry and Ron, is back at Hogwarts for Eighth Year.
Hermione would like to make one thing clear: she did not enter the Ministry's Reconciliation Tournament to win a date with Draco Malfoy. She entered as the anonymous "Veiled Champion" to force the truth about Voldemort's defeat into the public record.
When Hermione copies Draco's old diary for political leverage, she begins writing to him as "H." It's supposed to be reconnaissance, but it turns into daily confessions, and Draco falling for an anonymous girl while aggressively complaining about the cuffed Gryffindor who keeps glaring at him. Hermione is falling for him too, which is highly inconvenient.
Draco Malfoy would like to clarify that he has zero interest in being the ceremonial prize of a sixteen-woman courtship spectacle. He is definitely not obsessed with the Veiled Champion, and he is entirely certain that the sharp, brilliant "H" from his diary is not Hermione Granger.
But as the Tournament escalates to a masked ball, Hermione is running out of time to keep her identities separate. And when the veil finally drops, Draco will have to decide whether to remain his father's prince, or stand beside the witch who just dismantled his entire world.
