Somewhere in the Skies

Richard Dolan returns for a deep dive into the hidden history of USOs and some of the most extraordinary cases from his latest research. Dolan takes us aboard U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and submarines, into Soviet-era underwater mysteries, and beneath the waters of Lake Baikal as we explore decades of strange encounters at sea.

We examine the 1971 USS John F. Kennedy incident, the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt encounter, the mysterious Soviet “Croakers,” the alleged Lake Baikal swimmers, the Lummi Island incident, and a bizarre encounter involving the USS Saratoga in the Bermuda Triangle. Then we turn to the UFO conversation today. For more than seven decades, this extraordinary recording remained buried in government archives. Now, as part of the PURSUE Tranche 6 UFO file release, the complete 1952 “Flying Saucer Talk” by Captain Edward J. Ruppelt, the U.S. Air Force officer who led Project Blue Book, is finally available to hear.

Recorded on March 26, 1952, Ruppelt discusses the Air Force investigation into flying saucers, including credible military and pilot sightings, unexplained cases, activity near sensitive installations, radar observations, extraordinary speeds, and efforts to gather better photographic and scientific data. Despite extensive investigation, a significant percentage of cases remained unexplained.

More than 70 years later, the parallels are striking: military witnesses, radar detections, unusual performance characteristics, sensitive locations, limited data, and a persistent percentage of cases that resist conventional explanation.
