Welcome back to Coffee & Turner Syndrome. We are Brooke and Andrea, and every week we will pour ourselves our favorite cup of coffee, and chat all things Turner Syndrome.
This is a solo episode with me, Brooke.
In this episode, I’m responding to a moment that caught my attention on Instagram — a mom openly sharing her daughter’s Turner syndrome diagnosis, and the backlash she received for doing so.
The mom's instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keri.rooney/
The video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTBFxi8D_uM/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Watching her video stirred up a lot for me. Because truthfully? I would have loved to see someone talking about Turner syndrome when I was growing up. I would have loved to know I wasn’t the only one. I would have loved language, faces, and stories that made this diagnosis feel less isolating and less scary.
So in this episode, I share my perspective — as a fellow butterfly, as someone who grew up with Turner syndrome, navigating it quietly, often without anyone else with Turner Syndrome around, or anywhere to be seen.
